Snooker For Health & Friendship at YMCA

Sports category:

Racket Sports
Multi Sports

SHF is a grassroots multi-sports club for physical & mental health. Historically, it was co-founded by a project of WheelPower called Motivate East in Waltham Forest. We warmly welcome anyone from Greater London, with a disability or a mental health diagnosis and parent & professional carers.

We are accredited by LB of Waltham Forest Council with the Feel Good quality mark accreditation and offer calm sports (snooker, badminton, ping pong & blind polybat) and a very supportive environment for carers.

Players are diverse, of all abilities and supported by two experienced disability coaches from Spurs Foundation, a SEND school teaching assistant, a BE coach & teenage peer coaches who have disabilities themselves and find much joy in supporting fresh beginners.

For more information on this happy crowd, see LBWF Local Offer through our website -> link found in 'Useful links' below.

Attending the club:

The club is quietly busy but very calm and friendly. Just give us a call on 02085032665 and then come along with your carer. Your carer must stay at sessions. Coaching is sponsored by Spurs Foundation; mental health training & equipment are funded by the Big Fund Lottery but there is still a minor charge of £4 per player solely to fund venue rental.

When we meet:

We meet on the first, third and fifth Wednesday of each month from all of Jan-Dec from 4-6 PM to play for therapy and support one another to thrive.

Special needs badminton rackets, special badminton nets & special shuttlecocks, snooker bridge aids, polybats and sound balls are all provided at SHF at YMCA Walthamstow. Just bring yourselves.
