“A warm welcome awaits everyone irrespective of ability at Wey Kayak Club” Mr J Rossiter Chairman Wey Kayak Club.
The Club has not only a perfect range of facilities, with specialised facilities to cater for a range of disabilities, but more importantly than the physical facilities it has a welcoming attitude from club members and specialist coaches as well. Facilities provided alongside Guildford's Samson Centre for MS include a fully equipped Fitness Suite, adapted changing and toilet rooms together with specialist facilities including 3 Barometric Chambers and basic Oxygen treatment for 8 people at a time, Physio Treatment Rooms, ensuring the premises are perfectly adapted to cater for all needs. Tim Lodge Para canoeist who is targeting 2020 Tokyo Games says “From the moment I sat in a canoe I knew it was for me, being active isn’t necessarily easy for people with a disability, but canoeing gives me the feeling of freedom that I don’t get from any other sports, being on the water equal to everyone else is fantastic. Wey Kayak Club offers fully accessible facilities and coaching support for ParaCanoe at all levels, the water is perfect for training on and there are indoor paddling machines, full gym facilities and recovery areas.”
David Battershall, Club Coach who specialises in Para Canoe and works with athletes such as Rachel Morris and Tim Lodge, enthuses that the club takes its role to promoting the sport for the disabled community so seriously “it provides adapted boats, adapted indoor paddling machines and a range of specialist fitness equipment”.
The Club is open 7 days a week firstname.lastname@example.org Can be made to ensure when you visit you are greeted by one of our specialist coaches who will be able to advise on the most effective way to engage in the sport.
