We train at Ashdown Track in Poole and are a big part of our local club Poole AC. We provide a wide range of Athletics suitable for every ability. Wheel Chair Racing and Seated Throws are just two of the activities our members train and compete in.
Fencing is a fun a sport that is open to both male and female athletes of all abilities and ages. Our classes help improve coordination, concentration and the gross motor skills of anyone with some of wither mental or physical disability. Our course incorporate one on on lessons, group sessions and lots of fun based fencing activities. All the kit is supplied.
Mid Sussex Marlins Swimming Club has two groups for swimmers with disabilities: Dolphins in Burgess Hill and Starfish in Haywards Heath. Both groups offer classes for children from the age of 7 and adults. The teachers are qualified and where necessary, swimmers have the benefit of 1:1 assistance. Classes cater for beginners through to competitive swimmers and are based on water confidence, skills, swimming and fun! Many members are able to swim in mainstream lessons as well.
The club welcomes athletes with disabilities. In most cases athletes with disabilities join in our main training groups. We offer opportunities for people with all kinds of disabilities to take part in athletics and have a thriving wheelchair athletics group. We hope to add racerunning to the list soon. We aim to have fun in training and to enable everyone to improve. We provide competitive opportunities whenever possible but it is always up to the individual athlete to decide what is right for them.
