St Albans AC

St Albans AC have a reputation for providing sporting opportunities and coaching to athletes with disability. The currently have a number of athletes with disability being coached in main stream coaching sessions including CP, dwarfs, visually impaired, amputees and learning disability.

 

St Albans are unique in having totally integrated club coaching sessions. Coaching sessions take place at Westminster Lodge St Albans and Woodside Stadium Watford.

 

Apart from competing in disability events the athletes are encouraged and fully supported to take part in normal club and open competitions The club has fully qualified coaches to cover all athletic events and qualified wheelchair racing coaches.

 

The club has coached Paralympian athletes, with three London 2012 competitors having been coached by club coaches.

 

Malcolm Wallace is Head coach of the Haitian Paralympic team and works with nationalities to develop athletes and coaches. The club has had a number of potential paralympians competing and training with the club. The coaches have worked with the local authorities to ensure the stadiums meet the needs of disabled residents.

 

St Albans also offers the opportunity for disabled members of the community to become part of the club as volunteers and support the development of the volunteers in which aspect of the sport and running of the club they desire.
