About Deloitte Parasport

Deloitte Parasport was created by the British Paralympic Association (BPA) who recognised that more could be done to provide information to disabled people who wanted to take up sport, either at a recreational or competitive level. The BPA and Deloitte also wanted to encourage a more active disability sport community.

To support these ambitions, Deloitte Parasport aimed to signpost people to disability sports that were available to them and where they could play.

With the investment and backing of Deloitte, Parasport is now providing the support and information required to those looking to take the next steps towards a more active life.

Since Deloitte Parasport was launched in 2007, over 3000 clubs have registered across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland with the site. Deloitte Parasport celebrated its 5th birthday on March 15, 2012.

During the London 2012 Paralympic Games visitors to Deloitte Parasport's website increased by over 2000%, while mentions of ‘Parasport’ on Twitter increased by 370%.

2013 has seen this stabilise so that we now regularly receive 85% more visitors to the website than before the London 2012 Paralympic Games, which equates to approximately 8,000 unique users on the website per month. Our Twitter following also continues to grow.

To date, hundreds of embeddable widgets, which allow external websites to use Parasport features such as the find a club facility on their own website, have been downloaded from Deloitte Parasport. These are currently being used by a range of National Governing Bodies, County Sports Partnerships, Local Authorities, charities and sports agencies.
